Basics of Breastfeeding is a preliminary one hour class designed to introduce pregnant women to breastfeeding. The goals of the class are to demystify the process of breastfeeding, shed some light on common myths of breastfeeding, and to familiarize families with delivery and post-delivery routines at UCLA.
Due to high demand for this class, it is currently limited to UCLA obstetrical patients. This one hour introductory class does not replace the recommended 3 hour breastfeeding class offered through the UCLA BirthPlace.
The class is offered at both the UCLA Westwood and Santa Monica campuses. You can choose a class that best fits your schedule, regardless of which hospital you choose for your delivery.
Please Note: You must be pre-registered to deliver at UCLA prior to registering for Basics of Breastfeeding course. Please call to register for the class.
Beginning in June there will be a $20.00 fee for this class. Class times and locations vary. You can register for the class by phone. You will receive phone confirmation of your registration. You are welcome to bring your partner or support person to the class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.
